    Trinity Site

In 1945, the first atomic bomb was tested at Trinity Site, located between Socorro and Carrizozo New Mexico. The site is now open to the general public twice yearly, on the first Saturday in April and October. Visitors have the chance to see historic photographs of the event, a small monument and a ranch house where the plutonium core for the bomb was assembled.
